Group 2 — Garments in paper yarn with crochet details
Work by a participant group at the Design Days Free Workshop in Prato (23–24 May 2026), run with fashion designer Eva Di Franco. The group's sketches, patterns and notes were scanned from paper; the handwritten notes are in Italian and English.
The idea
A set of dresses, tops and skirts developed around paper yarn from Curelabo, made from bagasse, the sugarcane by-product. The technical sheet lists crochet knots as buttons and crochet loops as buttonholes, and the sketches mark a red crochet line running down the garment. The group worked with the producer's material cards, which show the path from sugarcane to bagasse, powder, paper and paper yarn, and the colour range of the yarn.
